Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. Common reasons patients elect to have this procedure are:
Thigh lift surgery is very personal. You should take your time considering if the procedure is the right way for you to achieve your body goals. But, you don’t have to do it alone. Dr. Ridha is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with many accomplished years of experience, who also graduated valedictorian from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (Cabrini) program in Manhattan. He has the knowledge, practical experience, and reliable bedside manner to guide you through your decision-making process to a satisfied outcome.
You will go into surgery with a detailed plan created by yourself and Dr. Ridha. Surgeries are unique to every patient, but most include the following steps.
Thigh lift surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis, which means you need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery. Also, someone must be with you for at least the first night following surgery.
The procedure is performed while you are sedated or under general anesthesia. Depending on your unique procedure, incisions occur in one of two places: For an inner thigh lift an incision in made at the junction where the thigh meets the pubic area. During a medial thigh lift procedure, Dr. Ridha will make an incision in the groin, similar to the inner thigh lift, extending to the back of the crease of the buttock or, in some cases, to the hip region. A medial thigh lift might also include vertical scars extending down the legs from the groin for greater access to underlying tissue.
The underlying tissue matrix will be reshaped and tightened, and skin will be reduced and re-draped resulting in more proportionate and smoother body contours.
Thigh lift incisions are typically closed with removable and absorbable sutures. Dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid. Surgical incisions must not be subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during healing. Dr. Ridha provides easy-to-follow instructions to care for yourself after surgery, which include a follow-up visit.
While the initial outcome of a thigh lift is noticeable almost immediately, it will be obscured by visible swelling. It may take several months for swelling to fully dissipate. Lifelong sun protection helps to maintain your rejuvenated appearance.
