At Ridha Plastic Surgery & Medspa, we use the innovative Icon device for laser skin resurfacing. The Icon is a multi-modality IPL (intense pulsed light) and laser platform that offers several functions.
We have two different handpieces available for the Icon device, each of which offers different benefits for patients:
Max-G - The Max-G handpiece is a powerful IPL device that can be used with the Icon laser to treat various cosmetic issues, including sun damage, rosacea, general dyschromia, and facial vessels. The Max-G handpiece can be used to target specific spots or larger areas of skin.1540nm - Our other Icon handpiece option is the 1540nm erbium handpiece, which uses a non-ablative laser to rejuvenate the skin. This handpiece is perfect for patients who would like to improve the health and appearance of their skin but prefer to avoid significant recovery downtime. The Icon with the 1540nm handpiece can be used all over the body to treat wrinkles, scarring, stretch marks, and other blemishes. Additionally, this laser promotes increased collagen production, which leads to long-lasting skin improvements.

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?
Before you undergo laser skin resurfacing, the first step will be to have a consultation with Dr. Ridha. During this meeting, he will answer all of your questions and go over the treatment with you. He’ll also help you determine if laser skin resurfacing is the best option for your needs. If you choose to proceed, he’ll work with you to create a custom-tailored treatment plan.
Laser skin resurfacing is generally performed as an outpatient procedure right at our facility. To begin, you will be given local anesthesia in the treatment area, and you may also be given protective eyewear. Dr. Ridha will then run your chosen Icon handpiece over the targeted skin. You may feel a warming sensation, but the treatment shouldn’t be painful. In total, the treatment will take between 30 minutes and two hours, and you can return home shortly after it’s finished.
