Kybella DESTROYS fat cells to REDUCE volume under the chin - results are permanent because destroyed fat cells cannot regenerate. Choose fillers to add chin projection; choose Kybella to reduce a double chin.
No - destroyed fat cells cannot regenerate. However, remaining fat cells in your body CAN expand with significant weight gain. If you gain substantial weight after Kybella, other areas may show it more because the treated area has fewer fat cells. Maintaining a stable weight preserves your results best, but the destroyed cells are gone permanently.
The swelling IS the treatment working. When deoxycholic acid destroys fat cell membranes, your body responds with inflammation to clear away the destroyed cells. This is an active fat-destruction process, not just product placement like fillers. The more fat destroyed, the more swelling expected.
