The Skinny on Botox and Fillers

Botox And Fillers

As the face ages, there are several processes which contribute to the usual signs of aging.  In the forehead and area around the eyes, chronic muscle contraction from facial expressions leads to the formation of wrinkles perpendicular to the direction of the muscles.   The vertical and horizontal wrinkles between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and horizontal wrinkles of the forehead can often be significantly improved with periodic injections of botulinum toxin (BoTox), which temporarily weakens muscle contraction in the areas of injection, lessening the appearance of wrinkles.

In other areas of the face, natural fat pads descend over time and also undergo atrophy.  Fillers like Juvederm, Radiesse, and Sculptra can be useful to improve the appearance of deeper lines that result from these processes and give the face a more natural, youthful appearance.  They can also be helpful to fill areas of imperfection below the skin and smooth out irregularities.  Most of these injections carry very little down time and can be performed in our office in less than an hour.  Call to schedule your consultation today!
